Wilcannia Wedding (print post)

Last weekend we travelled 800km due north from Melbourne to attend the wedding of Yonki and Patrick in Wilcannia. What a trip!

For now I’ll just post some pictures, hoping to add more words later. It was a wonderful weekend and a terrific occasion, and adventure in itself just getting there and back.

Travelling to places we would not have otherwise rushed off to see but returning home richer in life’s experiences for it, as well as having spent a weekend together with so many Buykxs!

On the way up we were in convoy - Bubble 1, Bubble 2 and Terry’s “new” Peugeot. Hay is halfway between Melbourne and Wilcannia - an even 400km and on the banks of the mighty Murrumbidgee River. A lovely spot to stop, hardly a ute to be seen (they were all in Deniliquin, 125km back up the road for the annual Ute Muster) and the cheapest drinks this side of the Black Stump! With each round you can elect to “Toss the Boss” and toss a coin with the proprieter - if you win the toss the drinks are free! Heads came up for us so Terry’s generosity at the bar cost him very little indeed!

Heading home again, we stopped in Ivanhoe to shake the dust out of the Bubbles and have a leg stretch (Bubble 1 and Bubble 2 here. The Peugeot went home the long way, via Broken Hill and Mildura):

And in a few weeks we do it all again! Anthony and Millie to tie the knot in Canberra on November 25th 2006!!

Michael Buykx was ordained a permanent deacon (print post)

A momentous day for the D.B.â€™s was Ascension Day, 25th May, when Michael was ordained a permanent deacon. It was a splendid ceremony, very nearly like the ordination of a priest. An important difference, however, was that his wife Hanna and their children had an active part in it. She was involved in the ceremony to the extent that the bishop asked her explicitly whether she supports Michaels vocation, which she does. (more…)

Aussie mail? (print post)

I dont know what you guys have done with the internet in Australia but I cannot get email delivered!

Robert wrote to me a couple of weeks ago and I replied twice, both times delivery failed. I also replied to a Pete Sh work email - that returned an invalid address! Its happened before trying to deliver to ozmail addresses but to colesmyer? Something wierd is happening, are you trying to quarantine yourselves from English emails or is it MI5 snooping and making a hash of things?
Anyway, I need to say I have not ignored you guys and I will try to email again in due course. Will someone plug the connecting cable in again please!

Charlotte Justice Buykx (print post)

The newest Buykx has arrived at last, Charlotte was born on the 28 June 2006 to stoked parents Chris and Lisa.
Similar to the arrival of Louisa, Chalotte had a long induce labour but did not want to come out, so they went in after her! Following a succesful cesarian, Charlotte clocked the scales at 3.98kg and has remained large happy and healthy baby while her parents come to grips with looking after her.
Charlotte is very cute, which is just as well because her newest tricks are projectile vomiting and even scarier - projectile poo! Maybe its just becuse she loves to change her outfits and wear lots of different clothes. She is almost 3 weeks today and loves sleeping and feeding and does enough of both so that her parents get a good rest.

Antho and Milly getting married (print post)

Penny and Lucy have been encouraging me to get onto this site and write something up, so here goes……

Antho finally popped the question on Christmas Day and so we will be getting married in November, 25th, to be exact, here in Canberra. Today we went off to talk honeymoons with a travel agent, and Borneo it is. Antho would like to climb Mt Kinabalu, but I am trying to remind him it’s a honeymoon, not an adventure trek. Perhaps we can go back for an anniversary and climb that mountain another time.

Oh, plus we also bought a house and a puppy in November, so it’s all go around here.

Now I just need to learn how to add photos :)

I have added the family tree - making an entry for each of our ancestors back to before our name existed - so there are entries back to January 1600. You can see all the entries by clicking the Ancestors link under Categories as well.

The Adventures of William Alexander Buykx (print post)

In this the great age of the internet, broadband and the global family, it seemed only right and proper that. I get some piccies of our little man up and out. I must say we have been shamed into action a little by Pete and his postings regarding Louisa, but nonetheless, we are very happy and very proud to be able to introduce our little man to the wider family - and anyone else that happens to look in on this blog.

William Alexander Buykx was born on the 9th of January at the Bendigo Hospital. He weighed in at 3.94 KG (near 8lbs 11oz) and was 53 cms long. The most common heard comment date has been “Gee…. he’s long!”. Yes he is. Not tall. Long. He will graduate to tall when he can hold himself vertical. That won’t be for a while yet!

Aunty Maureen (print post)

News on my dear mother (Aunty Maureen) as most of you knows she had a fall a few weeks ago and end up in hospital. In the fall she only did a little bit of damage to herself a broken arm fractured hip and pelvis. After about four weeks in hospital she has finely made it to rehab. Where she will embark on physio to get her back on track and hopefully home soon? She would like to be home now. A big THANK YOU to everyone who has sent messages, called in, phoned etc.
