A momentous day for the D.B.’s was Ascension Day, 25th May, when Michael was ordained a permanent deacon. It was a splendid ceremony, very nearly like the ordination of a priest. An important difference, however, was that his wife Hanna and their children had an active part in it. She was involved in the ceremony to the extent that the bishop asked her explicitly whether she supports Michaels vocation, which she does. (more…)

If you take an eyeball down the Archives you might notice something a little odd from today. I have added the family tree - making an entry for each of our ancestors back to before our name existed - so there are entries back to January 1600. You can see all the entries by clicking the Ancestors link under Categories as well.

Hi all,
Here’s us from Rotterdam, during our holidays with friends of ours in Germany two weeks ago. We went skiing for the first time. We had skiing lessons for one day and after that Els and I more or less could manage on our own, as did Leon (7)
