Steve Maddon) If you were with me on Friday you’ll remember that we spoke to a gentleman we’ve spoken to a couple of times before, Frank Buykx, retired travel agent from Great Yarmouth. Sounds like a contestant from ‘Fifteen to One’ doesn’t it: “I’m Frank Buykx, I’m a retired travel agent from Great Yarmouth” (laughs). But he’s not doing that, he’s doing a much more interesting thing, he’s planning to walk across the width of America, starting at Washington and finishing up in California. Frank left for the States on Sunday, has just departed from Washington a few hours ago and is embarking on the first section of his mammoth walk. Frank had his last fish and chip supper for a while. The local pub in Upton, Norfolk has regulars from miles around, brought by the good food and the great atmosphere. Frank’s last interview in the country was done from the kitchen at the back of the bar - while everyone else continued to party out the front.

He’s deep in preparations at the moment so we thought we’d catch up with him and see how it’s going, before he makes his final preparations to head out west.
