News on my dear mother (Aunty Maureen) as most of you knows she had a fall a few weeks ago and end up in hospital. In the fall she only did a little bit of damage to herself a broken arm fractured hip and pelvis. After about four weeks in hospital she has finely made it to rehab. Where she will embark on physio to get her back on track and hopefully home soon? She would like to be home now. A big THANK YOU to everyone who has sent messages, called in, phoned etc.

Louisa - The Latest Update (print post)
By Peter Shacklock on 19 March 2006Comments (2)
Hi Everyone,
At last a quiet moment after bringing our gorgeous girl home last Tuesday! It’s been a fun five days - What a ride!
Louisa is growing and changing by the day. Today her cord dropped off, and she’s also (slowly) learning that feeding is an art form that is best expressed delicately rather than with gusto.
Nonetheless, she is gaining weight at a terrific rate. While she lost 180g in the first 3 days after birth (normal) she regained this plus 80g by the time it was time to come home. I don’t know how much she has put on since, but she has certainly gained even chubbier cheeks and a pronounced pot belly!
Kate is doing well, the staples were removed on Friday morning and didn’t even hurt as much as she thought! Much better than sutures for sure. (more…) -

Her head was just too big!Weighing 3.93kg (or just under 8lb 11Oz), 51cm long and 34cm head circumference she hollered her entrance to the world at Waverley Private Hospital in Melbourne’s east. Hi all,
Here’s us from Rotterdam, during our holidays with friends of ours in Germany two weeks ago. We went skiing for the first time. We had skiing lessons for one day and after that Els and I more or less could manage on our own, as did Leon (7)

Ivory Gates (print post)
By Lucy Buykx on 06 March 2006Comments (1)
Google maps has provided a hazy but recognisable satellite image of the EB family homestead. If you look closely you can see the picture was taken between 2002 to 2003. The new vegetable garden is extended out the back, but still quite brown; and there are two morris minors in front of the garage. I dont know exactly when they were sold, perhaps one of my siblings or parents can recall and update.

Memory jogging (print post)
By Lucy Buykx on 04 March 2006No Comments Yet
I have been tripping down memory lane with Buykx memorabilia. I would like to share these with you and hopefully jog some memories.
1995 - Holly in Australia
Back in 1995, Holly came to Australia for a year. I have found a postcard from her a few days after she arrived, telling of a get together at the Shacklocks house.
Can anyone else tell tales of that get together? What was it like meeting Holly for the first time? Do you have any photos to share? Perhaps we can persuade Holly to write about what she experienced in Australia.
1984 - Frank in Australia
Going further back my father visited Australia in April 1984. He was there a few weeks and visited with several families.
My treasured memory of that time is the lengthy letter he brought back for me written by a multitude of cousins. Given the contents of the letter I thought this a good candidate for the family password!
This letter was written at a very big family bash in Muckatah. Anyone want to dish the stories?
1978 - EBs in Netherlands
Going back even further, I discovered a diary from 1978. In August we EBs visited the DBs. I think I remember some of this, there may even be some photos lurking somewhere which I have to seek out. I wonder if any of my siblings, or any of the DBs can tell stories of that visit?
